Tributes

Before you left this sinful world, the last deed you left behind was probably done in my favour. I am still left in a daze, that finds me gasping for breath because we did speak about what I was going to do.

Doc, you have left an indelible mark in my heart, I do not know where to start to explain how I met you and the instant impact and positive impression made on me, which instilled in me a confidence in my own abilities and the strength to push forward in life in the face of life threatening challenges.

I will always remember the strength in your words and your counsel, I will always take to heart the value of your deep seated wisdom, I can go on and on about the several evenings we spent and the words you always had for every conceivable situation.

Doc, you were an extraordinary person, deeply spiritual and with an integrity that is almost impossible to find in these days and times.

I say a special prayer to the Almighty to grant your soul eternally rest and peace and accept you into His presence for eternity.

Rest in peace sir, to say you will be greatly missed is grossly understating the way I feel, and may the good Lord console your family that you have left behind. Amen.

The news of Dr. Joe’s passing was nothing short of a rude shock to me. It felt in every way like a personal loss. I would have voted any day for him to stay alive and live for many more years.

We met and continuously interacted for more than 8 years at the Enterprise Development Centre, PAU, where he astutely facilitated the Operations Management module in a program I coordinated and managed within the period, amidst his other engagements there as a faculty. He quickly became a father figure to me as well as a role model in the Management field. He believed so much in my potentials and did well to advise, encourage and guide me. He was a support system I needed even more at this stage of my professional development.

But it is truly said that nothing good lasts forever. He has made his mark and will surely be missed.

I mourn him deeply. May his soul rest in peace.

I met Dr Joe Alumonah, The Joe, way back in 1978 when a cross-section of Ogume youth in higher institutions of learning came together to unite themselves from the various quarters of Ogume Clan despite a crisis that had disunited the clan 14 years earlier in 1964. From that time on, The Joe and I became intellectual and moral soumates, who almost always shared identical views on our community issues and on politics.

The Joe was a man of great intellect. He was also compassionate and empathetic. He was not a man to hold back his views on any issue, as he usually deployed his great analytical mind to make his position clear to all. In most cases, his adversaries would end up respectfully agreeing with him.

The Joe was morally upright. He never shied away from any fight in which he believed that the truth was being suppressed or a person was being oppressed.

His death was completely unexpected, especially when about 36 hours earlier we had spoken on phone about his response to the medications he was talking for his ailment. If only we knew death was already on its unwelcome way!

The Joe, I can take consolation in what you and I always counselled others on: Accept what you cannot change!

Adieu, my friend, brother, and soulmate. Ẹkika ọma n’eli i. Isẹ.

It’s a great and an unbelievable shock that came upon me last week when I learned of your passing, Dr Joe. It pains me that I have lost your laughter, advice and soothing words since after April 2022. All the same, you positively influenced myriads of people and organizations to levels that will never be forgotten in a hurry. As it were, my dear Convener of Okukwe Ogume, you did well, you ran life race as much as the Lord enabled you. The night has rather come too quick, but only the Lord knows! Adieu my brother. May your kind and gentle soul ♥️ rest in perfect peace. Amen.

As we mourn the sudden passing of our dear uncle Dr Joe Alumonah, we remember his love for people.

Dr Joe Alumonah was a deeply respected mentor to me and so many others and had an incredible ability to connect with people on a human level with kindness, friendliness, sincerity and respect.

His life and work leaves a huge mark on family and friends far and near. As a father, brother, uncle and educator he brought warmth, intellect, inspiring leadership and an unwavering commitment to education. I met DR JOE ALUMONAH a few years ago and I wished I had met him many years ago. Apart from his undeniable knowledge of numbers and how it impacts in decision making, he exposed to me the importance of one’s identity .
He throughly led the lines well in me identifying with my kinsmen and having good understanding of my ukwuani heritage.

Rest in power Dr Joe ALUMONAH.
I will surely miss your teachings.

A Tribute to Dr. Joe Alumonah
Dr. Joe is not dead because a goodman never dies.
For almost 20 years, we were connected, never parted, seen as Siamese-twins around town. When you see me, look closely, Joe will be there. We spent valuable times together at Janiobooks’ library from where we conceived Joceema Technical and Management Limited (JTM) and later, Technical and Management Institute, (TMI), which we were working hard together to nurture to maturity.
Dr. Joe acted on his vast knowledge which was backed by an untiring principle to support others. That earned him a legion of admirers and close followers. He will live on eternally beyond his physical existence.
The pain your voice when we spoke, 24 hours before your unexpected exit, still echoes in my ears.
The evenings are now no longer chatty and warm with those long debates that sometimes run into circuitous arguments; they have died with you. Hmmm
That’s the way life goes.
You lived bravely and took your share of toil and stress for your weaker fellows’ sake, so, you never die.
Rest in peace, my brother.
